Sir Alec Reed in 1960 founded Reed, the largest family-run recruitment business in the world. In 1972, he founded Reed Business School, a residential training centre for accountants and the only business school to specialise in recruitment. In 1995, he and his son James founded UK job board reed.co.uk and in 1998 created Reed in Partnership, which has helped more than 150,000 unemployed people into work. Sir Reed has set up a number of charities including The Big Give, which has raised over £125 million for worthy causes, Reed Foundation, Womankind and Ethiopiaid. He has written several books and was knighted in 2011 for his service to business and charity.

Julia Robertson has long been motivated by her belief that there is “a better way to do recruitment”. She became Impellam Group’s chief executive officer in 2013 after joining Tate in 1996, which was later acquired to form part of what is now Impellam Group. Prior to Impellam Group, Robertson was chief executive of the Institute of Employment Consultants (now known as the Recruitment & Employment Confederation), the professional body for the UK recruitment industry. She also founded her own recruitment business in 1986, which was sold to the Group alongside Tate. In 2016, Robertson received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Institute of Recruitment Professionals.

Simon Wassall has been with Harvey Nash for more than 20 years and joined the PLC board in 2005. As European managing director, he is responsible for the UK and European professional recruitment operations. Prior to joining Harvey Nash, Wassall opened several new operations for Austin Benn, which led to his board appointment to a newly acquired advertising and marketing company. Wassall is actively involved in the community and participates in Byte Night: the IT industry’s annual sleep-out in support of Action for Children. In 2017, Harvey Nash posted revenue of £889 million and acquired IT solutions recruitment firm Crimson Ltd. and Swedish HR consultancy PAT Management.

James Reed is chairman of Reed Global. Founded in 1960, it now has more than 3,000 employees working in 140 locations worldwide. During the Covid-19 crisis, Reed co-launched the Keep Britain Working campaign to preserve jobs and donated £100,000 to the National Emergencies Trust Covid Appeal, matched by a £100,000 donation from the Reed Foundation made via The Big Give. He joined the company in 1992 after graduating from Harvard Business School. Reed is also a published author and has written The 7 Second CV, Why You? and 101 Interview Questions You’ll Never Fear Again; he also co-authored Put Your Mindset to Work.
