Denis Pennel has held the role of managing director of Ciett since April 2005. Pennel promotes the interests of the staffing industry before international institutions, such as the European Union (EU), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the World Bank or the OECD. Pennel published a book in 2013, Travailler pour soit (Working for oneself), which explores recent trends in the labour market. Prior to his current role, he served as corporate communications director for Manpower France (1998- 2005). He is best known for his advocacy work during the writing phase of the Agency Work Directive as well as his efforts to ensure the optimal transposition of the directive across Europe.

Jean-Marc Brun is CEO of the French staffing group Adequat, a family-run company that he founded in 1987. Under his leadership, the business grew to become one of the top 10 staffing firms in the French market. The group continues to outperform the French market: The company’s revenue has increased at an average annual rate of 17% for the past 10 years. Adequat recently developed an in-house staffing service, Inside Staffing, which Brun credits as giving Adequat its competitive edge.

At the end of 2015, Federico Vione was appointed chief sales and innovation officer for Adecco. He originally joined Adecco in 1998 as a temp. In 2001 he became country manager of Ajilon Italy and then Switzerland in 2003. In 2005, Vione was appointed project leader, global account management, and subsequently head of Eastern Europe & Russia. In 2008, he was appointed country manager of Adecco Italy and in 2009 regional head of Italy, Eastern Europe & MENA. In 2011, he assumed responsibility of India & North Africa. Vione has been president and then VP of Assolavoro (Italian Association of Private Employment Agencies) till 2015.

François Roux has been general manager of the French staffing association (Prism’emploi) since 2001. In this role, he represents the interests of the staffing industry, lobbying government and negotiating with social partners and French institutions. In 2013, Roux led the talks with trade unions that resulted in the creation of a form of indefinite duration contract for temporary agency workers. In 2016, the association will be in the spotlight again as a new labour bill is underway.

Gary Elden has been CEO of SThree since January 2013 after serving as its deputy CEO since May 2012. Before that, Elden was SThree’s chief strategy officer. He has held a number of senior positions, including that of founding managing director of Huxley Associates. Bernard Zen-Ruffinenis is president, Europe, Middle East and Africa, for Korn Ferry, which he joined in 2009. From 2000 to 2009, he was the Swiss managing partner for Heidrick & Struggles and European head of the board and CEO practice. Previously, he served as president and CEO of DHL/Danzas Latin America, a company belonging to Deutsche Post World Net group. In the 1990s he was a founding member of Precious Woods (PRWN.SW) and more recently he was a founder of Monarca Coffee Wood, two companies dedicated to counteracting the effect of deforestation and global warming. Zen-Ruffinen is the 2013 recipient of the AESC European Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Executive Search Profession.

Hans Ploos van Amstel joined the Adecco Group as CFO in September 2015. He started his career in finance at Procter & Gamble (P&G) in the Netherlands in 1989. Between 1992 and 2003, he held positions of increasing responsibility in P&G across Saudi Arabia, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. In 2003, he joined Levi Strauss & Co. in Belgium as VP of finance and operations, Europe, and moved to the USA as global CFO in 2005. In his most recent position, Van Amstel was CFO of COFRA Group, a company active in fashion retail, commercial real estate and private equity, from 2009 to 2013, before acting as co-CEO of C&A Europe for a transition period until 2015.

Margriet Spijker is general manager of private Dutch staffing firm Timing, a part of the ADG services group. According to research from SIA, Timing is the sixth-largest staffing firm in the Netherlands. She joined the company as a consultant in 1988 and held various management positions, including deputy manager, before being appointed general manager in 2012.
