Mark de Smedt is Adecco’s regional head of Northern Europe. He served as Adecco Group chief HR officer from January 2014 until March 2016. He joined Adecco in March 2009 as country manager for Belgium and Luxembourg and was a founder of professional staffing specialist XPE Group, acquired by Adecco. Before this, he was responsible for Adecco’s Benelux operations between 2002 and 2007. Before joining the staffing industry, de Smedt held various executive positions at Wang, Apple, Citibank and Scoot in France, Spain and Belgium.

Claude Guedj has been chairman and CEO of Groupe CRIT since 2002. He founded the company in 1962 and was first appointed to the board in 1969. Guedj is considered a pioneer and innovator in the French staffing industry. Under his management, Groupe CRIT rose to the top five largest staffing firms in France, and top 20 globally. In 2015, Groupe CRIT largely outpaced the French market and boosted its operations in Spain and the United States.

Peter Searle has more than 28 years’ experience in recruitment having held managing director and chief executive positions with the Delphi Group, Ajilon and Adecco UK and Ireland. He is heavily involved in educational initiatives and was asked to appear on the UK government’s select committee for education in 2013. Searle has won multiple awards including a lifetime achievement award for his services to recruitment. In 2016, Searle became the CEO of the newly formed Airswift — following the merger of Air Energi and Swift Worldwide Resources — which specialises in global workforce solutions for the energy, process and infrastructure industries.

Herwig Muyldermans is the general director of Federgon, the Belgian staffing association. He plays a central role in negotiating with the Belgian government and its social partners on behalf of the Belgian staffing industry. In 2014, his perseverance resulted in the removal of one of the last restrictions to temporary agency work in the country: The coalition government announced that staffing providers would be able to provide services to the public sector. Before joining the association in 1990, he occupied senior positions at the Belgian association representing the clothing industry.

Sergio Picarelli was appointed Regional Head of Italy, Eastern Europe & MENA and India in October 2015. In 1993, Picarelli joined Adecco in Italy, starting as managing director of an Adecco Group Company (Permanent Placement). In 1997, he was appointed chief sales and marketing director, Italy. From 2002 to 2004 Picarelli served as regional head for Central Europe and was thereafter appointed chief operating officer of Adecco Staffing Division Worldwide. From 2005 to 2009 he served as country manager of Adecco Italy & Switzerland (Switzerland until the end of 2008). From January 2009 until his appointment as chief sales officer in October 2009, he served as chief international sales officer of the Adecco Group. Picarelli graduated in business administration from Bocconi University, Milan, Italy.

Jean-François Denoy has held various positions during his career with Manpower, alternating operational management responsibilities with HR positions. He returned to the HR organisation in 2000 to take charge of the training department, then of career management and HR development. Serving as HR director from 2006 to 2010, Denoy was appointed HR & services managing director of ManpowerGroup France in 2011, and became managing director in 2012. Denoy holds master’s degrees in administrative & strategic management and human resources.

According to research from SIA, Timing is the sixth-largest staffing firm in the Netherlands. She joined the company as a consultant in 1988 and held various management positions, including deputy manager, before being appointed general manager in 2012.
