Pertemps Network Group Chair Carmen Watson was responsible for the inauguration of the corporate business team that grew turnover to £323 million from £32 million between 1983 and 2000. She joined the board in 1983 and became chair in 2012. In 2018, Watson was named Director of the Year by The Institute of Directors in West Midlands and received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the REC IRP Awards in London. She is a trustee and chair of the Women in Business patrons’ group and a member of the leadership team of Race for Opportunity. In 2020, she received the LadiesFirst Inspirational Woman award.

Particularly skilled in employment law, Vanhala-Harmanen has a master of laws degree from the University of Helsinki and is a member of the Finnish bar. In addition to being named to the Staffing 100 Europe list, she was also named to SIA’s 2020 Global Power — 150 Women in Staffing list.

Alistair Cox has led Hays plc, the world’s sixth-largest staffing firm, as CEO since 2007. He is a chartered engineer with a degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Salford. He also holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business in California in the US. Cox began his career at British Aerospace and eventually moved into staffing, having been appointed chief executive at Xansa plc, the IT outsourcing organisation, before joining Hays. He has also served as a non-executive director at 3i plc and at Just Eat, and he is currently chairman of the British and Irish Modern Music Institute.

In 2010, he took over as managing director for Switzerland. Jager notes that during the pandemic, the main focus was on maintaining and securing as many jobs as possible. Jager also serves on Randstad’s global advisory board. With the DACH region having returned to its 2019 level, Randstad is again focused on extending market share. In addition to Randstad, Jager is a member of the advisory board at Nyenrode Business University in Breukelen, Netherlands.

James Saoulli is CEO of Rullion, the 17th largest recruitment company in the UK with £374 million in 2019 revenue. The company helps UK businesses and public-sector organisations recruit people for specialist permanent and temporary roles. Saoulli held several leadership roles in Rullion Management Services and Rullion Solutions before becoming the CEO in 2017. Under his leadership, the company has launched several programmes aimed at modernisation and business growth. Pre-Covid, Rullion introduced its remote working policy for all employees, and this has served the company well.

No stranger to tech startups, Felipe Navío was advisor and founder of ticket marketplace ticketbis in 2007 and strategy consultant in 2008 for Tuenti as it pivoted from being the “Spanish Facebook” to its present iteration as a cloud-based telephony service. In 2009, he joined with Juan Urdiales to co-found on-demand staffing platform Jobandtalent in 2009. Under Navío’s co-leadership, Madrid-based Jobandtalent secured €100 million from the SoftBank Vision Fund 2 to promote expansion into new markets. Jobandtalent serves Colombia, France, Germany, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom and, as of this year, the United States.

Asempleo President Andreu Cruañas became a governing body member of the World Employment Confederation in June 2020. He has led Asempleo, Spain’s 73-member association of employment agencies and temporary employment agencies, since its inception in 2013. The association aims to develop and expand the temporary work industry in Spain and to promote rigorous compliance control with legislation and good practice. Cruañas has also been an executive committee member of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) since 2013. Among his proudest accomplishment was Asempleo’s development and approval of a new Code of Ethics and Good Practices for the sector.
