Nicola McQueen was appointed as CEO of NHS Professionals, the largest temporary staff supplier to the National Health Service, in September 2019. She initially joined NHS Professionals as interim COO in January 2019. She is passionate about workforce business issues, having spent the past 20 years supporting and creating effective staffing strategies across both the private and public sectors. McQueen is also CEO of Doctors Direct, the locum service of NHS Professionals. Most recently, she has led NHS Professionals through the coronavirus pandemic, successfully attracting tens of thousands of healthcare professionals into the NHS.

Yvette Cleland is the CEO of Cpl Life Sciences, a global life science staffing organisation that rebranded from Clinical Professionals in August. Cpl Life Sciences is part of Cpl Resources plc. Over the past year, Cleland developed forums for chief medical officers, VPs and medical affairs clients in the US and EU. From these forums, Cleland develops thought leadership articles to distribute within the life science industry. Some of Cleland’s proudest accomplishments of the previous year include leading her organisation in fully funding and training more than 60 graduates last year, as well as its fundraising efforts for the Marine Conservation Society.

Randstad now has an active role in Germany’s Federal Employers’ Association of Personnel Service Providers and the German Association of Employers as well as in the lobbying circuit in political Berlin. Randstad Germany is the country’s leading personnel service provider with 2019 sales volume of nearly €2.1 billion; under Jager’s leadership it has gained market share for two years in a row in a heavy downturn market. Jager takes every opportunity to improve the image of the staffing industry in Germany.

Gary Goldsmith is a long-time recruitment industry investor, non-executive director and advisor to various companies in the UK recruitment industry. Goldsmith spent more than 13 years with SThree, launching and helping to grow its contract business. Goldsmith was also the former COO at InterQuest from 2012 to 2013. Throughout his career, Goldsmith has served as a non-executive director, mentor and “growth coach” for various recruitment firms across niches ranging from IT and travel recruitment to cybersecurity recruitment and secretarial and administrative recruitment. In 2015, Goldsmith co-founded the Recruitment Directors Lunch Club, a fast-growing network for aspiring recruitment business leaders.

Mike Barnard was appointed CEO of ICS Group in September 2019. Carmen Watson, chair and managing director of Pertemps, joined Pertemps in 1976 as a secretary and was later responsible for the corporate business team and growing turnover to £323 million from £32 million between 1983 and 2000. In 2018, Watson was named Director of the Year by the Institute of Directors in West Midland and received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the REC IRP Awards in London. She is trustee and chair of the Women in Business patrons’ group, board member of Race for Opportunity charity as well as a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Alessandro Ramazza wears many hats. He is president of Assolavoro, the Italian National Association for Employment Agencies. He is also deputy counselor of Randstad Group Italia; director of Randstad Research, which provides insights into the future market trends and employment issues; and president of Intempo, a staffing agency in the logistic and port sectors. From 2005 to 2017, Ramazza was president of Obiettivo Lavoro Group — this includes Italian staffing firm Obiettivo Lavoro, which was acquired by Randstad in 2016. He previously held leadership roles as HR director of large companies and covered public administration and political management positions.

Sebastian Lazay became president of the Federal Employers’ Association of Staffing Services (BAP) in 2017 after serving as vice resident since 2011. BAP represents the interests of the personnel services and temporary employment industry in Germany. Lazay is also managing director of Hamburg-based Extra-Personalservice GmbH, and has been closely involved with temporary work for more than 20 years. For many years, Lazay also participated in collective bargaining for temporary employment. Lazay is a member of the executive committee of the BGA, the Federal Association of Wholesale, Foreign Trade, Services, and since 2015, he has been vice president of large-scale services for the BGA.
