Impellam Group CEO Julia Robertson has worked in staffing for her entire career and has enjoyed both entrepreneurial and corporate success. She founded her own recruitment company in 1986 and later joined Tate as managing director, where she developed her craft, subsequently selling both businesses to Carlisle Staffing Services, now the Impellam Group. Robertson became CEO of Impellam’s UK staffing and managed services businesses after the 2008 merger and was appointed group CEO in April 2013. She formerly served as CEO of the Institute of Employment Consultants (now known as the REC), the professional body for the UK recruitment industry.

After spending four years helping to grow the company’s French operations into the market leader, he was managing director of Michael Page Spain, Portugal and South America, and then regional managing director of Central and Northern Europe.

Daniel Augereau is chairman and CEO of Synergie, the sixth-largest staffing firm in France. In 2018, the group reported revenue of €2.5 billion with international operations representing more than 50% of Synergie’s revenue during the year. Augereau trained as a technical blue-collar worker in the aeronautic industry and soon after founded his first staffing firm, Europe Technique Assistance, in 1969. After merging with another staffing firm 10 years later, the company rebranded as Synergie. It has continued to expand throughout Europe and operates in Canada and Australia. The firm’s future growth plans include possible acquisitions in the Nordic countries and Eastern Europe.

Maria Raffaella Caprioglio is president of Umana SpA, the fifth-largest staffing firm in Italy with more than 130 branches throughout Italy. She joined Umana in 1998, and in 2001 joined Umana’s board of directors. Caprioglio became VP in 2007 and president in 2012. Caprioglio’s career took off when, at the age of 23, she joined what was then known as the Industrial Association for the province of Venice, becoming the first woman to hold office within that organisation. Caprioglio is a member of the general council of industrial association Assolombarda Confindustria Milano and is a member of its ICT Group Council and Business Services committee.

Since 2007, Even Hagelien has served as director of staffing industry for the Norwegian Federation of Service Industries and Retail Trade (NHO SH). He also sits on the global board of the World Employment Confederation. In his tenure, Hagelien has co-founded the Nordic Network for staffing federations in 2011 and chaired the WEC Economic Affairs Committee from 2015-2022. He was re-elected to the WEC board for three more years in 2022. Further, Hagelien recently created an ambassador programme to meet politicians at national and local levels to advocate for the staffing industry.

He assumed his role on Norman Broadbent’s board in June 2021; he was executive chairman of Airswift from 2018 to 2021 and chairman of Hiring Hub from January 2020 until November 2022. Looking ahead, Searle plans to continue supporting Norman Broadbent’s leadership by promoting growth within the business, with a focus on evolving company culture to add further value to the organisation.

Most recently, he was responsible for the international Randstad Global Client Solutions business, which deals with strategic business, HR and talent issues. John L. Marshall III has led The Adecco Group’s North America, UK & Ireland, professional staffing region since April 2017. Prior to this, he was the regional head of UK & Ireland from October 2015 to March 2017. Marshall was a practicing attorney with King & Spalding and AT&T before he joined MPS Group in 1998. He joined MPS Group as deputy general counsel with an emphasis on acquisitions and public company reporting. He was promoted to president of Special Counsel in 2001 and named president of Accounting Principals in 2006. Adecco Group named Marshall president of its US finance, office and legal business unit after it acquired MPS Group in 2010.
