As president of Work Service from March 2019 to August 2020, Iwona Szmitkowska led the company through a restructuring process and was a key player in the majority stake acquisition of Work Service by Gi Group, which was finalised in August. Now VP of Work Service SA, she plans to focus within the Polish market on automation of HR processes, HR restructuring, and recruitment and outsourcing. Associated with Work Service since 2003, she is also president of the Work Service Foundation and since 2017 has been the president of the management board of the Employment Agencies Association, the largest Polish organisation specializing in delivering HR.

Kevin Barrow is a partner with international law firm Osborne Clarke LLP. Since 1990, he has advised staffing companies on all types of legal work, including commercial deals and international joint ventures and M&A. His team has advised on many high-value staffing M&A transactions in the EMEA region and works for more than 100 hirers and suppliers on UK, EU and international flexible workforce projects. His team also advises on the regulation of digital recruitment and online exchanges; tax planning relating to flexible workforces; and worker misclassification and co-employment class actions. Barrow has led a campaign to change the regulatory regime affecting online exchanges and has rolled out staffing/MSP deals in 40 countries in the last four years.

Dinette Koolhaas is Kelly Services’ VP and managing director EMEA. She is also a board member for Kelly’s joint venture with Persol in Asia Pacific and a board member of the World Employment Confederation. Fluent in English, German, Dutch and French, Koolhaas first worked at a logistics consultancy agency in Holland. In 1997, she began her career in staffing with USG People, leading brands Secretary Plus and Unique. She then joined Kelly Services in 2008 as VP and regional general manager for Western Europe. Koolhaas was promoted to VP operations for EMEA in 2013 and to her current role in 2017. She has an MBA from the Business School Netherlands.

Leen Geirnaerdt is the CFO and board member of the Dutch group USG People. She was nominated in 2010. Japanese staffing giant Recruit Holdings completed its acquisition of USG People in July. Before acting as the group CFO, Geirnaerdt held various senior management positions within the group, including that of general manager of USG People Belgium’s shared service centre transactions and support. Finally, she served as corporate controller at Solvus N.V. until the firm was acquired by USG People.

Stefano Scabbio is regional president, Southern Europe, and Talent Solutions global brand leader at ManpowerGroup, a role he took on in May 2019. Industry analyst firm ALM named Talent Solutions a global “pacesetter” earlier this year for its data-driven solutions. Scabbio first joined ManpowerGroup in 2003 as financial director of Italy, prior to taking on several executive roles. He also served as president of Assolavoro, the Italian staffing industry association, from November 2014 to December 2017. Prior to ManpowerGroup, he was CFO for Esselungao Group, a large supermarket company.

He has successfully guided Lorien through a period of rapid growth during which revenues increased from £147 million to £296 million and both contract and permanent placement numbers have doubled. With Lorien, Kelly has sold and delivered large-scale managed service and recruitment process outsource solutions for the likes of Fujitsu, Monitise, Phoenix and KPMG. Lorien currently has more than 200 staff members.

Maalfrid Brath is managing director for ManpowerGroup in Norway, the largest staffing company in the Norwegian market representing 20% of the total sales revenue. She first joined ManpowerGroup in 2009. Prior to that, she spent 15 years with Storebrand in Norway serving in various leadership roles, most recently as executive vice president. Brath is chair of the board of directors at the Norwegian staffing and recruitment federation as well as vice chair of the Executive Committee of World Employment Confederation Europe. Throughout her career, she has held positions in various boards including as chairman of the board at NHO National Federation of Service Industries and Trade, a position she’s held since 2016.

As CEO of the Employment & Recruitment Federation, Geraldine King continues to facilitate its services and upskill offerings. In 2022, King introduced the first graduate exit programme in partnership with the National College of Ireland for a bachelor’s degree in recruitment practice — the sole degree in the world attached to the country’s national framework of education. Her plans include developing the first-ever master’s accreditation for Ireland recruiters. A 22-year staffing veteran, King is an executive board member at the World Employment Confederation and a board member of the Ireland external advisory board for the digital reform of public sector recruitment.
