In 2011, Hagelien co-founded the Nordic Network for staffing federations. Since 2019, he has been a member of the global board of the World Employment Confederation. Last year, when the Norwegian staffing industry was put under political pressure, Hagelien advocated on behalf of the industry to defend its interests through campaigns which highlighted the positive social impact of staffing.
