Mike Beesley is CEO of UK-based Sanderson, which was rebranded from Resource Solutions Group in November 2019. Beesley bought the company with his business partner Keith Dawe in 1981, growing it to a €500 million-plus staffing firm. Also in 2019, Beesley and his team set up TimesTwo Investments in Bristol, an investment programme for recruitment entrepreneurs who have identified a market and are ready to strike out on their own. Beesley, who thrives on creating opportunities through people-oriented organisations that make a difference, is chair of The Prince’s Trust South West Leadership Group and the executive chairman of the Bristol Flyers basketball team.

Alan Savage established the Orion Group in 1987. As a mechanical technician he worked his way through the ranks of engineering. Following a stint as a sales and marketing consultant, he formed the Orion Group to provide personnel to the booming engineering sector. Savage is a former chairman of Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club and a Manchester United supporter. Based in Inverness, Orion Group employs 425 staff across its 44 worldwide offices and manages more than 4,000 contractors annually throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

Mike Beesley is the CEO of UK-based recruitment organisation Resource Solutions Group, or RSG. Since buying the company with business partner Keith Dawe in 1981, Beesley has taken RSG to new heights, navigating the 2008 recession and a restructuring to a £400 million-plus company as of 2018. His four decades’ industry experience include 20 years in IT recruitment and 20 years in MSP/RPO markets. He joined RSG after earning a business studies degree. Beesley is also the executive chairman of the Bristol Flyers basketball team.

Alistair Cox is chief executive of Hays, which had revenue of £3,697 million in its last financial year. He has been CEO since 2007. Prior to Hays, he was chief executive at Xansa plc from 2002. The 16-year SThree veteran previously led the company’s DACH region, growing it to account for 33% of the group’s revenue. After overseeing a recent brand refresh, Lehne has ambitious plans to grow the business, enhancing the candidate and client experience by developing digital infrastructure. The company is also helping tackle global challenges, including climate change, by promoting specialist skills and implementing new green technologies. Highly accomplished, Lehne is a member of Apsco Germany and the World Economic Council, and he is a founding member of the German Freelance Association.

Kevin Green is chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), the professional body for the U.K.’s £26.5 billion recruitment industry. Green joined the REC in 2008, having been HR director at Royal Mail where he was responsible for all people related issues for the business with its 165,000 employees. The REC is committed to raising recruitment standards and highlighting excellence throughout the industry. It represents 3,506 corporate members and 4,744 individual members within the Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP), all of whom must abide by a code of professional practice.

In October 2016, Matthew Taylor was appointed to lead an independent review into modern employment in the UK. The resulting “Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices,” published in July, considered the implications of new forms of work on worker rights and responsibilities, as well as on employer freedoms and obligations and how to address future challenges facing the UK labour market. At press time, it is unclear how or whether any of the recommendations will make their way into legislation.

Taylor is the CEO for the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. Previously, he was the chief adviser on political strategy to Prime Minister Tony Blair. Other roles include Labour Party director of policy and deputy general secretary and chief executive of the Institute for Public Policy Research, the UK’s leading left-of-centre think tank.

With 23 years’ technology recruitment experience, David Gettins has led Impellam Group’s Lorien division as managing director for five years. Lorien provides technology, digital and transformation solutions in the UK, Europe and North America. Gettins spearheaded Lorien’s entry into the DACH market and helped facilitate mergers that have helped make Lorien an internationally recognised brand. Under his leadership, Lorien saw post-Covid gross profit grow by 43.5% in 2021. Over the last 12 months, Lorien’s headcount has also increased by 45% through internal investment — a testament to Gettins’ belief that “people make the difference.”
